Q. I'm thinking about getting a degree in recreation. I love doing things outdoors (hiking, biking, running, etc..) Are there any good jobs out there with that I can get with that kind of degree? Can I get a job outdoors that makes at least a decent amount of money? Is there tough competitetion in this field? Thanks for any help. Asked by runningirl1987 - Mon May 15 21:13:30 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think you'll have a hard time finding a job with a degree that has "Recreation" in the title. I just doubt it will carry much weight. If you're an outdoors guy, perhaps that should be the focus (as opposed to the activities you do outdoors). There are lots of outdoorsy jobs, such as Land Resources, Forestry, Fish & Wildlife Management, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), etc. I'm not sure how much they pay, but I know the government hires a lot of folks with these degrees to work in National Parks, so I'm guessing it's probably not too bad.
