What is the necessary procedure for becoming a pre-k teacher in the state of Alabama?
Q. I am a Child Development Major, I am getting married next year and will be moving from Atlanta, Ga to Birmingham, Alabama. I am interested in becoming a pre-k teacher but I need to know what are the necessary steps that i need to take in order to become a certified teacher in the state of Alabama?

A. Usually Pre K, all you have to do is have a degree in Early Childhood Education. Some schools offer this program in a bachelor or master level that includes certification. I recommend making sure you complete this program. Or, check and see if the state even requires a cert. This way if you have a degree outside this area you can just take a few courses and get an alternative or emergency certificate. Check it out:

A. There is no right amount to how much you should run over the summer you should push yourself to the limits but don't go so hard that you injure yourself. You should be doing a mixed day schedule running 5-6 days a week. One day do a short fast run like a 2-3 mile run. The next day do a really long slow run of about 6-7 miles. Then the third day should be a mix of both at about 4-5 miles. You shouldn't run all 7 days because your body needs to rest. Also work on your ab strength because I have found that it is really helpful. All these distances can be adjusted to what you feel comfortable with but, good luck and keep running.

How do I choose a new 401(k) to rollover?
Q. I'm soon to be switching employers and I know to rollover my 401(k), but if I don't want to use my new company's plans, can I just pick an investment firm to handle it? Do employers still typically contribute to these outside plans?

A. The answer to all of your questions is "Talk to your HR department." There are any number of different ways of handling a 401(k), and only your employer is going to be able to tell you what your options are. There are number of reputable investment firms that would love to help you, for a fee, but even they can't do anything until they know exactly the terms dictated by your employer.
