Any tips on getting a brazilian wax at home?
Q. I am planning on buying home removal wax for body, but I need tips on alleviating the pain afterwards for a brazilian wax. Are there any things I can do or take to make it hurt less. Also are there any hair removal waxes that you recommend? Overall, do any of you have any tips for a first time brazilian wax?

A. dont do a DIY brazilian wax. ull regret it, i promise u that. go to the nail salon or an actual waxing place and have a professional do it! but if ur rly going to do it yourself, take an advil an hour before (or 2) to reduce pain and inflammation after wards. i guess u should use sally hansen because most people use that brand for home waxing. make sure the follow the directions EXACTLY. u can prep the hair a little first by putting some warm water there or do it after taking a warm shower. this will open up the pores so the hair comes out easier with less pulling. after waxing, put some aloe vera or vitamin E gel on the area to soothe it. they do sell special medicated products to use after hair removal (also by sally hansen) that reduce… [cont.]

How can I clean old wax out of a candle holder?
Q. I once learned of a trick (that many may know) to put the holder in the freezer, and the remaining pool of wax would pop right out. It works wonders! However, after doing that several times, the wax buildup around the other parts of the holder tends to build up and doesn't quite freeze since there isn't much of it. It is waxy and messy; when I try to clean it it just spreads it around. What is the easiest way to clean up the remaining wax? I have tried soap and water with a sponge, with not much luck. It removes some of it, but there must be another trick? Any ideas?

A. I work for Yankee Candle and often suggest the following method(s):At home I will either run hot or near boiling water until the leftover wax disappears,or use an old pot that contains heated water to soak off excess wax.Dont use said pot for food use!

How do you remove wax from carpet?
Q. I spilled some wax from a burning candle on my indoor/outdoor carpet. The wax dried and left a cloudy white reisdue. I've tried to scrape it off, but it's not working very well. Any suggestions? Thanks!

A. 1.Put ice cubes in a plastic bag and cover the wax until it hardens. 2.Gently scrape the excess using a spatula or a spoon. 3.Set your iron on low heat (you can also use a hairdryer). Place a brown paper bag without any writing or designs (the ink may transfer to the carpet) over the stain. Press the iron on the bag for no longer than a couple of seconds. Keep iron heat low so carpet fibers don't get scorched. 4.Repeat and replace the bag as necessary until the wax no longer transfers to the paper when heated. these next steps are for colored wax only: It should be noted that if the wax is colored, it may stain your carpet. Anytime you apply heat to a stain, it causes the stain to lock into the fibers leaving you with a permanent reminder… [cont.]
