Can i make models for people using solidworks and earn money?
Q. I recently started using solidworks at my job to make models and designs of products that we are planning on manufacturing. When i stop working in the middle of august can i still earn money by offering to make product designs for other people over the internet, similar to how webdesigners design websites for others and get paid money. are there any forums such as this one where i can find customers and such?

A. That's a neat idea, dude. I've never heard of this "solidworks" stuff, but I'd be interested in seeing some pictures of what you can make with it. Do a web search for "design page" or something relevant... and if there isn't one, maybe YOU could build it. Fill a need, get paid. Charge other designers to advertise on your site. Hire people to design for you. Sounds like fun. If you're not much of a web designer, farm it out. Try eLance.com Good luck.

How well-known do models have to be to be invited to high profile parties?
Q. Okay I just asked a question (Why do models get invited to the same parties as actors?) and got a bunch of helpful answers. So here's my question similar to it: How well known do models have to be to be invited to high profile parties (such as the ones that you'd find actors and athletes at)? Also, does the person/people who are throwing the party go to modeling agencies and invite a bunch of models, or do they have to know them personally?

How can I find out replacement models for older appliances and electronic equipment, etc.?
Q. I lost most of the contents of my home in a fire. My insurance will pay to replace items with today's equivalent model. The insurance co. says that they can provide me with the information, but I would like to be able to have an idea of what the replacement models are before talking to the insurance co. If I have model/serial numbers for older items, such as appliances, etc., that have been replaced with newer models, is there a way to find out what the current model is?

A. Hmm. Tough one. The only thing I can think of is to try Craigslist.com. I sold my older furniture there and I'm sure there's an appliance category. Why not try asking someone at a good appliance store. Or appliance repair shop. Then there's always the classified section of your local newspaper.
