So I am betting you have heard the Baby Shark or one of the bits to its tunes and you really wish you hadn’t, or worse still, like me found myself repeating short bits of it hours and days later for no reason. Baby Shark is catchy and infectious for sure. So of course “Baby Shark” is a children’s song about a family of sharks, which really had a boom moment since 2016, spreading through social media, online video, and radio as a viral craze.
Various companies or people have copyrighted original videos and sound recording and some have released merchandise off the back of this however, it is believed that the underlying song and characters are in the public domain, I can see it being a song started in Kindergarden or Preschools for example, I dont see a song writer really working on it but who knows.
In the song each member of a family of sharks is introduced with different hand motions. Different versions of the song have the sharks hunting fish, eating a sailor, or killing people, who then go to heaven.
There have been a few different versions, videos and claims using the song since its beginnings we believe the original video for Baby Shark by a Korean user who uploaded it at the end of November 2015. And views of videos related to Pinkfong shark song have reached over 5 billion in late 2019.
Who would have thought it but with the success of the song, video and craze Kelloggs announced in 2019 they were partnering up with Pinkfong to create a berry flavoured variation of Froot Loops ceral with added marshmallows who would of thought! – Yuckk.
