So just another day in Times Square in New York City with Stormtroopers everywhere right? Wrong these Stormtroppers were not asking for money in exchange for photos and selfies. No, these were supplied by the Force of Toysrus to greet the hordes of people who had lined up buy the many new Star Wars toys from the new owner of the franchise Disney themselves.
The new Star Wars Movie ‘the Force awakens’ is not released until December but Disney is trying to make retailers keep the toy products under wraps as much as possible and many events are planned with a global marketing force on traditional and now online mediums.
Many may want a Furbacca which is a mix between the Furby and Chewbacca character
, lightsabers and everything else you could think of from pens, boxer shorts, to dressing gowns to Lego and non Lego ships and structures.
Many kids will of course follow what happened back when the original films came out, and long for a Millennium Falcon of their own. Complete with action figures and star ships to play and defeat the dark side.
Of course todays merchandise will be much for costly and with some new characters these will no doubt appeal to the new generation and cause many i want syndrome to start this season early.
Of course if you were there the first time, the amount of thirty something people I have spoken to who this time round are able to ‘treat themselves’ to the new versions of the toys they always wanted, and will no doubt treat their little ones but reward themselves with the high end lego or toys to relive the good old days of being young but wanting to be good and to help defeat the bad darkside.
One such new character is Sphero BB-8 Droid, the app-enabled Droid whose movements and
personality are as authentic as they are advanced. Based on your interactions, BB-8 will show a range of expressions and perk up when you give voice commands. Watch your Droid explore autonomously, guide BB-8 yourself, or create and view holographic recordings. BB-8 is more than a toy.
